This was a long standing relationship once we reworked their brand early on, but they did like to run us through RFP and RFQs for pretty much every big project. I’ve got my original presentation on recommendations for the full identity and then an RFQ that I pulled together with our strategy folks and designed. Heck, I even shot the photos, which were all of the Overture Center building.

For the brand recommendation presentation, you’ll want to read the notes in the Keynote, I tend to not put a whole lot of copy on my slides but instead speak to them while presenting. This was the very first presentation on our recommendations based on the first round of strategy discussions. We had the benefit of Pentagram’s competitive, market and consumer analysis, but knowing the region as well as the political turmoil and strife caused by the construction we felt going in another direction was warranted. At the time archetypes were big, I’m sure you remember those days, and through many discussions about the end result of what going to see live performance does for a person, we landed on the magician because of their ability to alter reality. We also leaned heavily on the physical space, mainly the Oculus and its trans formative effects on the interior. The rest is pretty clear in the deck.
